PACE Race

Start A PACE Race

Bring a PACE Race to Your Community

One in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and there are more cases of prostate cancer than any other major cancer on a yearly basis. Because of these staggering statistics, the PACE Race Run / Walk Series was launched in 2002 as a method for the Prostate Conditions Education Council (PCEC) to increase national awareness of prostate cancer.

The PACE Race Series is an excellent way to enhance the knowledge or prostate cancer and the importance of early detection in your community and it complements the PCEC’s missions of offering free or low cost prostate cancer screenings across the nation as well as educating men, the women in their lives, and the medical community, about the prevalence of prostate cancer; the importance of early detection; and available treatment options.

There are currently two options available for binging a PACE Race to your community.

A PACE RACE A PACE EVENT
Starting a PACE Race in your community requires a commitment of excellence and time. The first steps in starting a new event are: It isn’t always necessary to create a new a new race in your community. You can also utilize an existing local race and add it to the PACE Series as a PACE Event.
  • Develop a Race Committee comprised of people with a variety of expertise, willing to give their time, and passionate about saving lives from prostate cancer.
  • Events can be expensive to put on, it is recommended that you at least $10,000.00 in sponsorships, to begin.
  • Events also take a lot of volunteers, be sure you have local groups that are willing to volunteer on race day.
  • We can help you find a Race Director, which will be the next step in having an event. A Race Director will help you identify the course and get the required permits and certifications as well as help manage registrations.
  • PCEC also has templates for Registration Forms, posters, flyers, media outreach, survivor recognition, as well as national spokesmen, sponsors and media that help make your local event a huge success!
  • Identify a local event that reaches men and women, aged 30 and over.
  • Sometimes prostate cancer can be named the cause of the charity.
  • Ensure the event recognizes prostate cancer survivors and family members and provides educational information at the event.
  • Offer special Masters age divisions and prizes.
  • PCEC provides templates for media outreach to ensure the purpose of the event is recognized!
  • Work with local patient and physicians offices to enhance the reach of the prostate.
